The inaugural LA Climate Week drew to a close on September 15 with a dynamic and inspiring celebration that fused climate action with artistic expression. From hikes to sustainable cocktails to comedy shows, events addressing climate change popped up around L.A. from Sept. 8 to Sept. 15 as part of the city’s inaugural Climate Week.
Inspired by New York’s Climate Week NYC (which had been described as “Burning Man for climate geeks”), organizers hoped the mix of fun and flashy events with more serious policy-focused discussions would encourage Angelenos to get involved in climate action and connect them with leaders.
The closing ceremony evening kicked off with a red carpet event. Highlights included a compelling fireside chat between BLACK PEARL CEO Samata Pattinson, and entrepreneur and philanthropist Dax Dasilva, impactful speeches from prominent climate leaders, and a series of engaging musical performances curated by Better Earth Productions. Attendees were also captivated by the Black Hole Experience, a mobile art exhibition previously featured in Times Square.
The event featured plant-based food trucks, a cocktail bar with a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic options, and a lively dance party organized by HeyClimate. Guests were encouraged to use ride share services, although street parking and nearby pay lots were also available.
