The We Shall Breathe National Summit and Underwater Projects Premiere was held during Climate Week NYC on Monday, September 23rd.
This year’s theme is The South Got Somethin’ to Say, and represented the work of the Hip Hop Caucus, in raising their voices to demand racial justice, social justice, economic justice, and environmental justice. Each one of these critical issues is interwoven – and without them, we can’t breathe. The Hip Hop Caucus is a national, non-profit organization in the United States, which aims to promote political activism for young U.S. voters using hip-hop music and culture.
Following the Summit, BLACK PEARL co-hosted a green carpet premiere of Underwater Projects featuring special guests and a meet and greet with the film cast and crew. At the event, Deirdre “Moma D” Love represented Teens with a Purpose, Malik Jordan also represented Teens with a Purpose, Elizabeth Yeampierre was from UPROSE, Rev. Lennox Yearwood Jr. served as Executive Producer of Underwater Projects, Liz Havstad was the Director of Underwater Projects, and Samata Pattinson and Jarel Clay were Green Carpet Co-Hosts.
