Cultural leader recognised in Arts & Fashion section for pioneering work bridging fashion, music, entertainment and education
Los Angeles / London – Samata Pattinson, founder and CEO of BLACK PEARL, has been named #56 in The Independent’s third annual Climate 100 List, featured in the Arts & Fashion section alongside architects, designers, fashion innovators and cultural leaders shaping climate action globally.
The recognition arrives as BLACK PEARL’s Culture@ project—developed in partnership with Getty Images and Canon—launches for Autumn/Winter 2025, exploring the relationship between sustainability, identity and cultural heritage through fashion and photography.
“Being featured in this list at this moment means everything,” said Pattinson. “It’s proof that changing what we aspire to—through culture, through fashion, through the stories we tell—is as powerful as changing what we consume. The Independent’s Climate 100 recognises individuals and organisations dedicated to finding climate solutions across sectors: from Activists and Business & Finance to Food & Agriculture, Sciences & Academics, Politics & Government, and beyond. The list is published annually to coincide with Climate Week NYC.
