Los Angeles Climate Week™ Returns, Kicking Off with Powerful Messages of Resilience, Recovery, and Community
LOS ANGELES, APRIL 2025 — Los Angeles Climate Week™ made a powerful return this April with a dynamic launch event in Downtown Los Angeles, setting the tone for a week of innovation, collaboration, and local climate leadership. Building on the success of its inaugural edition in September 2024, the second annual LACW continues to unite policymakers, innovators, companies, and changemakers from Los Angeles and beyond.
This year’s theme, “Future Proofing and Resilience,” reflects the region’s focus on community recovery following recent wildfires. Through the lens of environmental restoration, sustainable infrastructure, and cultural sustainability, LA Climate Week™ is creating a space for bold, imaginative solutions on the road to LA28. BLACK PEARL’s CEO, Samata Pattinson, sits on the steering committee.
Presented in collaboration with the Collidescope Foundation, the opening night featured an inspiring lineup of speakers and partners, including the Jane Goodall Institute, Black Pearl, and the Climate Emergency Fund, all reinforcing the urgency and hope driving the climate movement in Los Angeles.
Opening Remarks were delivered by JC Arce, Dan, and Lara, grounding the evening in Collidescope’s wildfire relief efforts and emphasizing the collaborative spirit of LA Climate Week™.
Key Highlights from the Launch Program Included:
Triple E Green Revolution Campaign – Nala introduced the campaign fueling LA Climate Week™, outlining its mission, 2024 goals, and impact vision.
Collidescope Foundation – Bea presented the organization’s long-term commitment to local climate solutions and social innovation.
Jane Goodall Institute – Shawn highlighted their Pasadena kickoff and Jane Goodall’s message to “Think Local, Act Global.”
Venue Host Acknowledgment – Ekaterina Sky and Greg welcomed attendees into their creative sanctuary, underscoring the power of beauty and storytelling in climate action.
Special Address by Ann Rosenberg (on behalf of Natalia Vega, New Zero World) – Featuring a screening of Plant Home and reflections on changing the climate narrative through art.
Philip Eubanks, Climate Emergency Fund – Spoke on the vital role of philanthropy and sustained support for climate movements.
Aaron Ordower, LA County Board of Supervisors – Shared insights on wildfire recovery and Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath’s commitment to community-led action.
Samata Pattinson, CEO of BLACK PEARL – Reflected on her second year on the Steering Committee and emphasized cultural sustainability in climate action.
Creative Performance by Monaxi – A stirring performance titled Togetherness added a poetic close to the formal program.
Curtis Jewell issued a fundraising call to action to sustain LACW’s impact.
The evening concluded with a Networking Reception featuring dinner and music by Monaxi, giving attendees a chance to connect, collaborate, and spark ideas for the week ahead.
