Emmy Nominee Dr. Shamell Bell Shines on the Red Carpet in a Look Curated by BLACK PEARL

Los Angeles, CA, September 15th 2024  – Emmy nominee Dr. Shamell Bell captivated onlookers at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards with a stunning red carpet look that not only highlighted her impeccable style but also her commitment to sustainable and socially responsible fashion. This remarkable ensemble was curated by the cultural sustainability organization BLACK PEARL.

Dr. Bell, an acclaimed community organizer, dancer, choreographer, and documentary filmmaker, made a striking entrance in a Black Sequined Long Dress by celebrated designer Albina Dyla. Known for its breathtaking elegance and dramatic train, the dress was rented from a woman-owned business, aligning with Dr. Bell’s dedication to supporting diverse and inclusive fashion. Albina Dyla, a prominent fashion house from Kosovo, has earned international acclaim for its high-quality designs, and by choosing this gown, Dr. Bell is championing global innovation and sustainability in fashion.

Adding a touch of luxury with a Claire Hynes clutch, Dr. Bell showcased a piece crafted with a deep commitment to social impact. The clutch features T’nalak fabric, handwoven by the T’boli people of Mindanao, highlighting traditional Filipino craftsmanship. The rattan weave and brass clasp, handmade by artisans, underscore the ethical and artisanal qualities of the accessory, while also supporting female artisans in the Philippines.

Dr. Bell also embraced sustainability with her thrifted vintage earrings. These unique pieces are not only timeless but also exemplify eco-conscious fashion. By opting for vintage jewelry, Dr. Bell reduces waste and minimizes the environmental impact associated with new jewelry production.

Completing her ensemble were vegan leather shoes, an eco-friendly alternative to traditional animal leather. These shoes help avoid the environmental harms of animal farming and toxic chemicals in leather tanning, supporting ethical fashion and environmental conservation.

This ensemble, curated by BLACK PEARL, a leading organization in cultural sustainability, exemplifies Dr. Bell’s commitment to merging high fashion with impactful social and environmental practices. Together, her red carpet look was a powerful statement of style, sustainability, and support for global craftsmanship, reflecting a dedication to making fashion a force for good.

Dr. Shamell Bell is nominated for an Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series – 2024 as a Supervising Producer for “Lessons in Chemistry” on Apple TV+, produced by Apple Studios. She served as the historical consultant for developing the social justice storylines in Harriet Sloane, including the impactful freeway scene set in Sugar Hill. Her contributions were pivotal, leading to her promotion to Supervising Producer, a recognition of the strength and impact of her ideas.
