Jane Goodall Headlines “Future of Hope” Event to Launch 2025 Los Angeles Climate Week™
Pasadena, CA – March 30, 2025 – The 2025 Los Angeles Climate Week™ officially launched this weekend with a powerful and intimate gathering at Pasadena High School featuring none other than Dr. Jane Goodall, world-renowned ethologist, UN Messenger of Peace, and lifelong advocate for environmental justice.
The event, “Future of Hope: An Afternoon with Dr. Jane Goodall,” drew over 1,500 attendees—primarily students and families. Her keynote, which marked the official kickoff of 2025 Los Angeles Climate Week™, offered deep encouragement to communities recovering from the Eaton and Palisades fires, and reminded all present of the strength that arises when people come together in difficult times.
Hosted in collaboration with the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI), the Collidescope Foundation, and the Pasadena Unified School District, the gathering marked the beginning of what is shaping up to be the biggest Los Angeles Climate Week yet, with more than 160 climate-focused events scheduled throughout April.
Special Pre-Event Meet & Greet
Select industry leaders and changemakers were invited to a private green room gathering with Dr. Goodall prior to her speech, where she offered words of encouragement and support to the next generation of environmental leaders. “Jane is always most inspired by young people who are leading with heart,” shared Kara from the JGI Communications Team. “She sees their courage and conviction as essential to creating a better future.”
LA Climate Week steering committee member, and BLACK PEARL CEO Samata Pattinson joined, Leah Thomas, Diandra Marizet (The Intersectional Environmentalist), Summer Dean, Kevin Patel, Kristy Drutman (Green Jobs Board) in the green room for an intimate gathering with Dr. Goodall.

– A keynote address by Dr. Goodall centered on resilience, interconnectedness, and the critical role of youth in planetary healing
– VIP access for fire-impacted families and students, with priority seating and personal engagement opportunities
– A call to action for ongoing community climate leadership and sustained support for those impacted by environmental disasters
