BLACK PEARL was thrilled to partner with OTIS College of Art & Design for the She Creates: Women in the Creative Industry Panel, moderated by Julia Bingham, OTIS’ Executive Director of Career Services. Part of the Taking Up Space Speaker Series, co-hosted by Career Services and DEIB, the event brought together top professionals from the creative economy, offering students invaluable insights into diverse career paths and the innovative minds shaping the industry.
Otis College of Art and Design is a private art and design school in Los Angeles, California, United States. Established in 1918, it was the city’s first independent professional school of art. The main campus is located in the former IBM Aerospace headquarters at 9045 Lincoln Boulevard in Westchester, Los Angeles.
Panelists included Launi King (CEO, Creative Play), Melissa Graziano (Animation Director), Shawn Jones (Senior Creative Director, @lakeshorelearning), Sam Danan (Creative Director, @dreamhausla, OTIS alum), and @iam_samata (CEO, BLACK PEARL), who shared expertise on product design, animation, branding, and fashion sustainability. Together, they highlighted the opportunities and challenges in today’s creative economy.
