BLACK PEARL delivers OVERHEATED Sustainable Fashion Initiatives
OVERHEATED made its North American debut on November 3 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, following its initial launch in the U.K. Co-founded by Billie Eilish, a committed advocate 12for sustainability, the event gathered climate activists, thought leaders, and artists to discuss climate action. Livestreamed globally via Eilish’s YouTube channel, *Overheated* reached audiences worldwide.
Maggie Baird, founder of Support+Feed, joined in hosting the event, which featured influential voices like Saad Amer, Xiye Bastida, Samata Pattinson, and others. Panel discussions covered topics such as “Environmental Justice 101,” “Climate Optimism,” and “Your Vote, Your Power,” focusing on practical actions for positive environmental impact, including political engagement. Attendees were also provided with plant-based meals as part of the event’s sustainable approach.
Overheated is a climate sustainability event that brings together climate activists, artists, and music fans to discuss the climate crisis and how to address it. BLACK PEARL, partners for OVERHEATED, curated a series of initiatives focused on sustainability and creativity through fashion.

E-Zine Sewing Kits: Participants received sewing kits, mini tie-dye kits, and scrap fabric kits from Fiibers, an Atlantan company dedicated to community sustainability and workshops.

Collaboration with ATL Fashion Week: BLACK PEARL partnered with Angela Watts, recipient of the City of Atlanta Phoenix Award (2014), on the “Stitch Society” project, utilizing pre-loved t-shirts for new creations.

Live Educational Demonstrations: Quintin Crumpler from GOAT by James King and Samata Pattinson conducted a session to educate attendees on identifying durable clothing construction and sustainable shopping practices.

Panel Discussion and Showcase for Local Designers and Sustainability Advocates: The event featured local designers from institutions like the Savannah College of Art & Design, presenting innovative sustainable fashion solutions. Featuring Corinea Austin, founder of Fiibers, who highlighted the community’s role in sustainability and shared how her store empowers all crafters, bringing stories to life. Panelists Catherine Maddux, and Kiran Kapileshwari each discussed sustainable fashion, innovation, and practical steps for durability, underscoring ethics, circular practices, and the power of community.
