Cultural sustainability organisation BLACK PEARL honours the Han Gwich’in and Sicangu/Oglala Lakota model and land protector at the Hollywood Climate Summit
Los Angeles, CA — BLACK PEARL Founder & CEO Samata Pattinson presented the inaugural Hollywood Climate Summit Amplifier Award to Quannah ChasingHorse at the Hollywood Climate Summit at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater.
The Amplifier Award recognises individuals who have used their platform in fashion and entertainment to actively advance the conversation on climate and Indigenous rights — not as a spokesperson, but as someone who takes what is already true and alive and gives it greater reach, resonance, and power.
ChasingHorse, Han Gwich’in and Sicangu/Oglala Lakota, is a fourth-generation land protector whose work in fashion — spanning Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, and the world’s top fashion houses — has never been separate from her values. From her landmark Calvin Klein campaign in 2020 to a Met Gala look rooted in Navajo tradition, she has consistently leveraged cultural moments to amplify Indigenous rights and the protection of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, the land her people call Izhik Gwats’an Gwandaii Goodlit — the Sacred Place Where Life Begins. ChasingHorse is now co-directing her debut feature film, Beautiful Resistance.
